Role overview
Ashley Louise Consulting are working in partnership with a well-established precision engineering company in Nottingham that is looking to recruit an Assembly Operative. Due to continued growth and increased demand, this is an excellent opportunity to join a modern manufacturing business with long-term career prospects. As an Assembly Operative, you will be responsible for preparing and assembling fabricated components to the highest standards of quality. This is a hands-on position involving fettling, grinding, finishing and assembly work, ensuring products are completed to specification and ready for dispatch. We are looking for someone with excellent attention to detail, a strong work ethic and pride in producing quality workmanship.
Responsibilities
- Fettle, grind, linish and finish fabricated components.
- Remove weld spatter, sharp edges and imperfections.
- Assemble fabricated components using hand and power tools.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
- Carry out visual quality inspections throughout production.
- Report defects and quality concerns to the Team Leader.
- Complete work within production deadlines.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE.
- Support other departments when required.
Requirements
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Experience using hand-held power tools including grinders and sanders.
- Good attention to detail.
- Ability to read basic engineering drawings.
- Good manual dexterity.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Previous fettling or metal finishing experience is desirable.
- Experience assembling fabricated products is desirable.
- Experience working with stainless steel, mild steel or aluminium is desirable.
- Counterbalance Forklift Licence is desirable.
- Overhead Crane experience is desirable.
