Role overview

Ashley Louise Consulting are working in partnership with a well-established precision engineering company in Nottingham that is looking to recruit an Assembly Operative. Due to continued growth and increased demand, this is an excellent opportunity to join a modern manufacturing business with long-term career prospects. As an Assembly Operative, you will be responsible for preparing and assembling fabricated components to the highest standards of quality. This is a hands-on position involving fettling, grinding, finishing and assembly work, ensuring products are completed to specification and ready for dispatch. We are looking for someone with excellent attention to detail, a strong work ethic and pride in producing quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Fettle, grind, linish and finish fabricated components.
  • Remove weld spatter, sharp edges and imperfections.
  • Assemble fabricated components using hand and power tools.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Carry out visual quality inspections throughout production.
  • Report defects and quality concerns to the Team Leader.
  • Complete work within production deadlines.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
  • Follow all Health & Safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE.
  • Support other departments when required.

Requirements

  • Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Experience using hand-held power tools including grinders and sanders.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Ability to read basic engineering drawings.
  • Good manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Previous fettling or metal finishing experience is desirable.
  • Experience assembling fabricated products is desirable.
  • Experience working with stainless steel, mild steel or aluminium is desirable.
  • Counterbalance Forklift Licence is desirable.
  • Overhead Crane experience is desirable.

  • Rotating shifts: 6:00am-2:00pm / 2:00pm-10:00pm, alternating fortnightly.
